Mississippi MudCats Proud that Clark’s on their Team

(Tupelo, MS) - The Mississippi MudCats of the AIFA continued with their undefeated season with a win over the Florence Phantoms this past Saturday night. The final score was 40 to 39 and interestingly, the MudCats defense was assisted by Jason Clark, a Defensive End and Starkville, MS native, who previously played for the Phantoms.

Clark (6’3"-265) is a former 2005 AIFL All Star and played collegiate football for four years at Mississippi State University, where he was an
All SEC LB and led the Bulldogs in tackles his Junior and Senior years.
He is playing his third year of Professional Indoor Football this season with the MudCats, after playing two seasons with the Florence Phantoms.

Clark has played in all 7 of the MudCats games this year and has been a consistent leader with sacks and tackles. Half way through the season, he has been responsible for 13 solo tackles and assisted with 15 other tackles and has had 8 sacks and 1 assisted sack. He was instrumental on defense this past weekend with 3 tackles, 4 assisted tackles and 2 sacks.

Co-Offensive Coordinator / Player Personnel Coach, Kirk Brossard said, “Jason is a tremendous addition to our team and he brings experience and great pass rushing ability to the Defensive Line.”

Another twist on this MudCats team is that while Jason Clark played at MSU, his current teammate Travis Johnson played at Ole Miss, and they were arch rivals here in Mississippi. Now they are playing together to get the job done. Both players enjoy playing close to home so that their families and friends have the opportunity to see them in action. Both Clark and Johnson prove that it doesn’t matter where you play the game; it’s just how you play it.

The MudCats travel to Columbus, GA to face the Columbus Lions on Friday, May 9th at 6:00 PM.
