Jim
Waide, Owner
A native of Clay County, Mississippi, Jim Waide is an
attorney specializing in civil rights and employment discrimination.
Jim's offices are located in Tupelo, Mississippi, but
his practice has led him to four separate appearances
before the United States Supreme Court and countless appearances
in front of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He's been
called "the best constitutional lawyer in Mississippi,"
and his cases have set new standards for employment law
in the state.
Jim
is a graduate of West Point High School in West Point,
Mississippi, and Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi.
After graduating from Millsaps, Jim spent three years
in the United States Marine Corps, including one year
as a forward observer in Vietnam, for which he was awarded
the bronze star. After his discharge from the Marines,
Waide entered Tulane Law School, where he obtained his
Juris Doctor in 1974.
Jim's
interest in football began at an early age and was solidified
during his days playing end for the West Point Green Wave
and later playing guard and end for the Millsaps Majors.
After his time on the field ended, Jim has remained active
in Millsaps athletic alumni events and is a frequent spectator
at football games of all kinds.
After
attending the Mudcats' first game last season, Jim became
an immediate fan of the team and its philosophy. When
the opportunity to purchase the team presented itself,
Jim was eager to get involved. His plans include not only
fielding a winning football team, but also utilizing the
team to bring various segments of the community together.
Waide's goals are simple: Win ball games and win the hearts
of fans. Judging by last year's winning record and play-off
appearance, Waide seems to be on the right path.
The
father of two daughters, Sara and Lea, Waide makes his
home in Tupelo, where he is a member of Hope Church, the
Lee County Bar Association, Mission Mississippi, and the
Millsaps Football Hall of Fame.
